Does my application process need to be complete, with all fees paid, before I can schedule a testing appointment?
Yes. You must have met all requirements and pay all Board fees before you can schedule a testing appointment.

When should I schedule a testing appointment?
You should schedule your appointment as far in advance of the test as your Board will allow. Testing appointments are scheduled on a “first come, first served” basis. Therefore, to ensure getting an appointment at the testing center of your choice, you should schedule your appointment as early as possible.

How do I schedule a testing appointment?
You may make a testing appointment via the Web or by telephone. On the Web, go to www.PearsonVUE.com and click “for test takers”. Under “for test takers”, click “schedule an exam.” Select your testing program for information, including how to set up a Web account. To register online, you must first create a Web account. To register by telephone, you may make an appointment by calling 877-392-3926 or 877-435-1414.

Will I receive an email confirming the testing appointment?
Yes. You will receive a confirmation email from Pearson VUE stating the date, time, and location of your appointment. If you have been granted a disability accommodation, it will also be noted in the email.

Should I bring the confirmation email to the testing appointment?
Yes. You should bring the confirmation email to your scheduled testing appointment, along with two forms of identification, one with photo identification.

How do I cancel a testing appointment?
You must cancel or change a testing appointment at least 24 hours prior to the scheduled appointment. You can cancel the appointment on the Web at www.PearsonVUE.com or by calling 877-392-3926 or 877-435-1414. Failure to cancel a testing appointment results in a “no show” without a refund of testing fees.

Taking the Computer Based Test

Can I bring food into the test center?
No. Food is not allowed in the test center.

Can I bring note paper into the testing area?
No. The test center will provide a whiteboard and erasable marker which must be turned in at the end of the test.

Can I bring a calculator into the testing area?
No. A calculator will be provided.

What is the break policy?
Break policy varies by exam. Consult the Board for details on break policies. Most offer unscheduled breaks for the candidate’s convenience.

Can I practice taking the computer based test before the actual administration?
Yes, you can practice taking the test as often as you wish by downloading the Computer Based Testing Tutorial.

How early should I arrive at the test center?
You should arrive at least 30 minutes prior to the scheduled testing appointment. This will allow time for proper check in and verification of identification.

What type of identification must I present at the test center?
The candidate must have two forms of identification At least one form of identification must have a picture of the candidate on it. The candidate is required to bring the test confirmation letter from Pearson VUE, and it is recommended that the candidate bring his/her letter from the Board.

What if I am late for the testing appointment?
You must arrive within 15 minutes of the scheduled testing appointment time. If you arrive later than 15 minutes, you may not be able to take the test. Test Center proctors will make every effort to accommodate a late candidate, but this may not be possible given the testing schedule for the day.

What accommodations can be made if I have a disability or special need?
It depends on the nature of your request. However, a private room is available at many test centers. It is possible to arrange for readers or other personal assistance as needed. All testing accommodations must be approved by the Board prior to making a testing appointment. The test center cannot provide an accommodation that has not be approved.
